Some time ago there was a movie on TV. The kind you don’t have to really pay attention to what is going on; you can just sit back and relax. Among others there was an elderly couple. The husband full of excitement announced to his granddaughter that he and her grandmother were to renew their vows soon. The wife-grandmother appeared to be worried. Shortly after starting a conversation with him she reveals she had an affair with his partner several decades ago while he was away on business. The old man asks her why she told him now after so long, as if to imply that it would be better to leave him in ignorance, happy. "Because it’s the truth," she replies and swears that she only loved him. The old guy then looks at her and says "Unfortunately, the truth makes everything else seem like a lie"*. Weeks later, I still think of this line... How important it is to learn something the moment it happens. It may hurt you or make you angry but you’ll know it and you’ll have the opportunity to move on, start all over. Otherwise, everything that follows [the truth you never learned] will later on seem like a lie; even if it was not. [A second look will always bring culprits.]
